The three products in the Afrox LPGas heating energy basket are often described as very refined sources of energy, because they are clean, quick and effective enough to rise to any size challenge.
The Afrox LPGas products are:
- Afrox Handigas
- Afrox Propane and
- Afrox Autogas
To describe these sources of energy as refined is also totally accurate in technical terms as Liquefied Petroleum Gas (LPGas) is a by-product of the process that refines crude oil into the many hydrocarbon products that drive commerce and industry.
These hydrocarbon molecules are composed of hydrogen and carbon atoms which form thousands of different structures with different boiling points.
In the tall towers of a refinery, these hydrocarbons are subjected to different treatments, involving heat, pressure and chemicals. These processes break up the molecules and then recombine them to form the products that have become so vital to industry.
The lighter and therefore the cleaner the product, the closer to the top of the fractioning tower it is drawn off. The butane and propane that is turned into LPGas fuel is drawn off at the very top of the tower, after petrol, jet fuel, paraffin, diesel, heavy fuel oil, motor oils and greases and firstly bitumen have been drawn off.
Other petrochemical products find their way into plastics, synthetic fibres, rubbers, detergents, pharmaceuticals and many other products used in daily life.
